Historic Stagville- One of the Largest Plantation Complexes in American South

Stagville Plantation is situated in Durham County, NC. With buildings put together from late 18th to mid 19 century, this is one of the biggest plantation systems in the south. It was owned by the Bennehan Cameron family and covers 120 square kilometer including Little River plantation and was home to 900 Africans in the 1860s. This plantation complex comprises 3 tracts of over 70 acres each. Bennehan House created in 1787 and 1799 was situated at the National Register of Historic Places . The historic buildings here include salve residences as well as historic house museums.

Duke Homestead and Tobacco Museum- Showcasing History

The early home farm and factories where Washington Duke grew up are covered in this museum. His sons founded the world’s largest tobacco company, the American Tobacco Company. Duke as well as others created a market for Durham centric tobacco products, making NC an invaluable part of the global tobacco empire. Duke University was named after this famous NC family.

Bennet Place- Historic Farmhouse

This amazing farmhouse is located between Raleigh and Greensboro.  The surrender papers for the close of the Civil war were signed between Confederate General Johnston and Union General Sherman. Bennett’s reconstructed place reflects the historicity of an old Southern farmhouse.
